What will happen in a hypnotherapy session?
In a hypnotherapy session, we will begin by exploring what has led you to seek therapy and what you hope to achieve by the end of our sessions. I will provide an explanation of hypnotherapy, share my approach to the process, and set expectations for our sessions together.
Following our initial discussion, I will guide you into a state of hypnosis using a technique that is tailored to your needs. After the session, you may experience feelings of upliftment, lightness, and deep relaxation.
Since I work with your subconscious mind, positive changes may manifest subtly, leading to a noticeable shift in your emotional state.
How does it feel?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind similar to daydreaming.
People are often surprised that they can hear what is being said and can move or speak if they want to.
Each person's experience is unique and the feelings and sensations during hypnosis may vary from one session to another. Some people describe hearing every word I say, while others find their mind wanders.
It is not uncommon for people to lose track of time while in hypnosis. The level of awareness during the process is not crucial and does not impact the effectiveness of the session. While relaxation is not a requirement for hypnosis, many individuals often describe feeling very relaxed during and after the session, finding it more enjoyable than anticipated.
If I am hypnotised, do I give up control?
No. Hypnosis is a streamlined state of focused attention, much like being absorbed in a book, a film, a sport or a creative activity. You have the ability to emerge from hypnosis at any time if you wish. Think of me as your guide; I am the facilitator, but any change comes from within you. Recognizing your control and ability to initiate change can be incredibly empowering.
The more often you choose to go into hypnosis, the more comfortable you become with the process, knowing that you are always in control and can choose to end the session whenever you desire. As most people find hypnosis deeply relaxing and a very pleasant experience, they rarely choose to do this, however, it is important to understand that the option to do so is always available if you decide it is necessary.
