How does solution-focused Hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis to create positive change by encouraging and enhancing the use of your own inner resources. 

Hypnosis or “trance” is a very natural state of awareness encouraged by using guided relaxation, where the mind can relax allowing it to focus on thoughts and suggestions that might be useful.

We go into trance many times a day – if you have ever been absorbed in a good book or film and lost all track of time or driven a familiar route and arrived at your destination without remembering part of your journey, that’s a version of “trance” – we do it regularly.

During Hypnosis, the body and conscious mind are in a profoundly relaxed state, while the subconscious remains very alert and receptive to positive suggestions.  It is our subconscious mind that runs our automatic habits and behaviours. It runs our bodily processes as well as all the automatic processes we do daily, such as walking, talking, reading, or driving a car. We don’t need to consciously think about how to put one foot in front of the other, or how to pronounce words before we say them, we do all that without even thinking about it.

The subconscious mind can also learn unhelpful habits, responses and behaviours, such as anxiety, fears, phobias, or unhelpful eating habits and much more. Working with our subconscious mind to change unhelpful programming and creating much more successful images and positive emotions is the key to changing any unwanted habits and behaviours, and to reaching our true potential.
